SUMMERY AND SUGESTION

 PURPOSES OF PRACTICUM

The purpose of the SEA Teacher program, specifically the teaching practicum, in my opinion and experience, is to create opportunities for future teachers to teach in another country and learn from the institutions where we teach. We also receive significant experience and the opportunity to improve our teaching or pedagogical skills.

PROCEDURE OF PRACTICUM

This sea teacher program will last one month, and the practicum procedure is divided into several stages, the first of which is the observation stage, the second of which is the teaching stage while it is still adapting, the third of which is the normal teaching stage, and the last of which is the evaluation stage.

During the observation stage, I began to pay attention to how my tutor taught as well as the different types of students in the class.

Then, in the second stage, namely the teaching stage, I had to begin adapting to teaching situations that were different from those in my home country. After a while, I began to implement some input from my tutor, who had previously always provided input and correction when teaching.

In the final stage, which is the evaluation stage, I will face my final demonstration, which will be evaluated by several teachers present, and I will have to implement all of the feedback and corrections, as well as demonstrate all of my abilities in teaching practice.

OUTCOMES PRACTICUM

The benefits I receive from this program, particularly the teaching practice, provide me with numerous advantages, including the ability to gain teaching experience outside of my home country and to gain new insights and lessons from the school environment at UIC, from teachers and even from students, as well as a comparison of how to teach here with how to teach in my home country, and the material or given by the curriculum here differs from that in my home country. This also prepares me as a better prospective PE teacher for the future, and I can understand how it feels to be a teacher a little better.

CHALLENGES OF PRACTICUM

The challenge for me personally is that I was not used to using English to teach at the beginning of the program, and there was sometimes miscommunication with my colleagues, but after some time I got used to communicating in English. There are also students who always talk to me in their dialect because they believe we are native people.

OVERALL IMPRESSION

My impression of this program is very positive, and I am proud to be a member of SEA Teacher Batch 9. I learn a lot here, both academically and culturally, among other things. I'm also pleased that I can travel to another country and learn while on vacation.

SUGGESTION FOR FUTURE IMPROVEMENT

My recommendation for this program is limited because it is already very good in my opinion. However, my suggestion is that this program be expanded to strengthen relationships between universities in ASEAN countries, as I believe many universities have yet to participate. Furthermore, this program could increase the quota for participants because, in my opinion, the current quota is quite insufficient. All of these recommendations are for the advancement of teachers in ASEAN.

PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT

TEACHING METHOD The teaching method that I used during my teaching practice in 11th grade was problem-based learning. When presenting a topic, I always gave an example of a problem that they had to solve, such as "how to get a healthy body." They then had to think critically and provide their own answers or opinions, and the students played an active role in the learning process. LEARNING MATERIALS The learning materials I will provide consist of three parts. The first part is about FITT (Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type) which focuses on designing effective exercise programs. The second part is about health-related to fitness, which covers topics such as nutrition, hydration, and proper rest to support overall fitness. The third part is about fitness in the community, which explores the importance of physical activity in promoting a healthy lifestyle within a community setting.
