After arriving in Davao for the first time, I was informed by Mr. Rene Barbiera that UIC is divided into three campuses. The first campus is used for university/college level education. The second campus, Bonifacio, is used for both high school and college education. The last campus is Bajada, which is used for playgroup, elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school levels.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT SYSTEMS
Based on my observation, there are several academic support facilities that I have found in the subjects I teach, such as:
Gymnasium: A facility that supports physical education and sports activities. It provides space and equipment for students to engage in physical activities, promoting their overall well-being and potentially enhancing their academic performance.
Classrooms: These are dedicated spaces for teaching and learning. They are equipped with furniture, whiteboards, and other instructional materials to facilitate effective teaching and learning experiences.
Air conditioner: This facility helps maintain a comfortable learning environment by regulating the temperature and ensuring proper ventilation in the classrooms or other academic spaces.
LED TV/Projector: These multimedia tools are used to display visual content, such as educational videos, presentations, or interactive learning materials, to enhance the learning experience and engage students.
Speaker: A sound system or speaker system can be used to amplify the teacher's voice or play audio materials during lessons, ensuring clear communication and effective delivery of instructional content.
Comfy room/Toilet: These facilities provide a comfortable and hygienic environment for students, allowing them to take breaks or attend to personal needs during their academic activities.
Changing rooms: These rooms provide a private space for students to change clothes, which can be especially useful for physical education classes or extracurricular activities.
Other facilities that support academic activities include:
Library: A resource center that offers a wide range of books, references, and digital resources to support research, reading, and independent learning.
OLP Auditorium: An auditorium or large hall that can accommodate a significant number of people. It is often used for academic events, presentations, or performances.
Cafeteria: A dining area where students can have meals or snacks, providing them with the necessary nutrition and energy to support their academic activities.
Laboratory: A specialized facility equipped with scientific instruments and equipment for conducting experiments and practical learning in subjects like science, chemistry, or biology.
WiFi: A wireless internet connection that allows students to access online resources, conduct research, and collaborate on academic projects.
Prayer room: A designated space for students to engage in religious or spiritual practices, providing them with a peaceful environment for reflection and prayer.
